My background is in Fashion. I recently graduated with a BS and AAS in Fashion Merchandising. As a part of my passion for fashion early on, I learned how to sew from my mother and at school and quickly started to make bags and things for friends and family from their old clothes. One of my fave projects is a duffle bag I made for my cousin out of 4 old shirts and an old pair of jeans (none of which she could fit anymore). I used Hannah Montana pj fabric for the lining.
So about the book, because of my fashion background I have been designing trendy, easy to do projects that will have people asking "Where did you get that I love it?" When that happens, the feeling washes over you. It is exhilarating to be able to say "I made it!" I have gathered a lot of ideas from magazines and catalogs for things that I think would be awesome if you sprinkle some DIY juice on them and some individual flair. The projects in the book will also have more of a professional construction. Though I love a top stitch and an unfinished hem I prefer to leave people guessing. The DIYer will thus have the choice of going the professional or rustic route when executing each design.
That's all for now. Stop back to check out all of the upcoming projects, posts, and how - to's.
Thanks,
Rachel
